On the Night

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 3 July 2009 at the Park Inn, Telford.

This will be an invitation only black tie event for Shropshire’s business leaders and their guests, to be hosted by The Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and the Shropshire Star, with guest speaker Gerald Ratner.

Gerald Ratner famously admitted that his company’s products were “total crap” in a speech to the Institute of Directors in 1991. His comments were seized upon by the media and his once successful jewellery business faced ruin. After bankruptcy and a breakdown, the 60 year old tycoon persuaded the banks to loan him enough cash to set up a fitness club which he later sold for a huge profit, which was used to launch his latest successful jewellery business Gerald Online. Earlier this year he was a TV business mentor to a group of celebrities taking part in the Comic Relief does The Apprentice.
He is also an acclaimed after dinner speaker and amusing business raconteur. 

Outline timings:

7.00 pm Reception and drinks
7.30 pm Call to dinner, welcome and introduction. Final of the Star Idea.
9.30 pm Guest speaker Gerald Ratner followed by the Shropshire Business Awards
10.30 pm dancing to The White Keys, casino tables and celebrations!

Tickets:
Individual tickets are £60 each plus VAT for Members, £66 plus VAT for non-members.
Tables for 10 or 12 guests may be purchased by companies or organisations and identified with a corporate logo.
